The latest on-screen manifestation of the Muppets is largely down to super-fan, actor and talented comedy writer, Jason Segel, who wrote and pitched the film, as well as starring alongside Amy Adams.
This time around, the Muppets theatre is (once again) facing
closure, at the hands of a greedy oil tycoon. It’s a race against time to reunite the Muppets so they can
put on one last show at theatre and save it from being demolished and the site
drilled for oil.
The storyline has a noticeably adult undercurrent, with Miss
Piggy starring as the plus-size editor of Vogue, and Animal currently holed-up
in a celebrity rehab facility. Happily, it’s the same-old stuff we’ve come to know and love
from Jim Henson’s original creations.
