Five years ago, Gary Barlow had truly left the building,
having not done much at all since his glory days as a member of Take That came
to an abrupt end. Flash forward to 2012, one of the most important years in
British history, and Barlow sits at the helm as a main player, having been
roped in by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II herself to compose the official song
to mark her 60 year reign.
Barlow, aided by the godfather of musical theatre, Sir
Andrew Lloyd Webber, toured the Commonwealth to source the sounds and voices
that represent what the queen means to the world.
This special edition CD features Barlow and Webber’s
finished product, Sing, an ambitious track full of euphoric key changes and
choral arrangements (thanks to the Military Wives) along with pleasant
renditions of Amazing Grace, Land of Hope and Glory, God Save the Queen, and
Barlow’s Here Comes the Sun.
