DVD - Girls Season 1 (18)

Lena Dunham, the show’s inaugural creator, writer and star, scooped two Golden Globe awards last week for the first season of her New York-based comedy-drama, Girls, which will be available on DVD on March 4th.

Comedy producer extraordinaire Judd Apatow (The 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up) took television wunderkind, Dunham, under his wing to produce the ten episode series following struggling writer, Hannah, and her tight-knit band of twenty-somethings “almost getting it king of together” as they seek professional and romantic fulfilment in their own, roundabout way.

Girl lacks the plastic sheen and perfectionism of most female-led TV shows, speaking to a new generation who couldn’t relate to the impossibly well-heeled and creatively accomplished Carries and Gossip Girls of the television world even if they tried.
