If you were one of those applauding and
weeping in the aisles at your local cinema’s opening night of Les Misérables you’re undoubtedly one of those who queued outside your
doomed local HMV and put the soundtrack at number one in the album
charts.
None of the cast have Broadway standard
voices but it’s this rough, ready and real delivery that lends this
adaptation of Les Misérables the visceral vocals that may attract a
new audience who would usually stay away from the caterwauling of
musical theater.
The 20 track album captures every oral
offering from Anne Hathway, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Amanda
Seyfriend and the rest of the cast, with One Day More topping the
bill as one of the best ever group recordings of the climactic song.
