BBC Two
Sunday 28th October, 8pm
With the U.S presidential election upon
us, Andrew Marr looks back on Barack Obama’s first term in office,
from the moment many of us thought we may never see when he became
the first black American President, through the many pitfalls that
have marred his time in office and the battle he now faces against
his Republican competitor, Mitt Romney.
Through candid interviews with Obama’s
personal White House staff and some of his closest advisors, Marr
assesses whether this history-making presidency has lived up to its
huge expectations.
On a lighter note, BBC Two are also
airing Family Guys: What Sitcoms Say About America the night before
(Saturday 27th) at 10.15pm, in which historian, Tim
Stanley, uses sitcoms past and present to reveal a forward-thinking,
progressive country whose politicians need to catch up with what
their voters really think about election-winning (or losing) topics
like gay rights, abortion, race and religion.
