It nearly killed us waiting for the
fifth series of the painfully stylish Mad Men to return to TV, but it
was well worth the wait, and now the most explosive series to date is
finally available on DVD, so you can watch Megan’s awkward yet
strangely alluring birthday serenade for Don over and over again.
We revisit the men and women of
Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce in 1966, with Betty overweight, fed-up
and unloved in her new marriage, the new agency going from strength
to strength and Don and Megan making an unusual successful couple,
trapped between two generations, as the swinging sixties and civil
rights movement take hold.
Don and Betty’s daughter, Sally,
steals the show this season, with consistently mature and
surprisingly well-acted performances for such a young actress.
Also, watch out for Peggy and Joan, who
take very different approaches to smashing through the glass ceiling.
