It's truly, truly horrible but it does possess that
most dangerous of pop-tune characteristics, in that it's embarrassingly catchy,
and you'll be pleased to know that Taylor Swift's latest single, We Are Never
Ever Ever Getting Back Together, is as bad as it gets when reviewing all 16
aural offerings from her fourth album, Red.
Lyrically, Red is grittier and more acerbic than her
last fairy-tale reference laden attempt, Speak Now, and that's due to the,
self-proclaimed, “tumultuous, crazy, insane, intense, semi-toxic relationships” the young singer/songwriter experienced during the
last two years.
She's still syruped her pop with just the right amount
of country influence and kept her stories the right side of PG-13 to appease
her pre-teen, mid-western fans but Red definitely suggests she's on her way to
delivering a fully-fledged adult album next time around.
