Elections for Police and Crime Commissioner roles in
England and Wales are due to take place in November and have been described as
the ‘biggest change to our policing … since 1829’.
It’s quite worrying then that so many people have no
idea who the candidates are, let alone what their political and social stance
is.
To try and tackle this mismanaged situation, 5 Live
breakfast show presenter, Nicky Campbell, and his guests will attempt to
investigate and explain what this means to the general public and how policing
of their communities will actually change following the decision.
The program includes regional films which will focus
in more detail on what these changes mean on a local level and BBC Local Radio
debates will take place across the network the following day from 9am to
discuss the issues further.
