They penned the official single for the
London Olympics, Survival, but other than that, the music world has
been missing Muse since 2009’s, The Resistance, their most popular
album to date and praised for its classical influences and melodic
melancholy, but the Devonshire trio are back and have taken a new
direction with their sixth album, The 2nd Law.
They’ve moved forward, experimented
and dabbled in new genres, including dubstep, house and electronica,
but their new sound comes off a little radio-friendly which won’t
please their original alternative-rock fan-base who liked Plug In
Baby turned up so loud that their ears bled.
Muse can always be relied on to put on
a good show and The 2nd Law is certainly an album made to
be toured, with some of the more eclectic arrangements definitely
sounding as though they ought only to be heard live.
