In what PROMISES
to be the last mention of the Olympics, ITV news reporter, Mark
Austin, puts a dampener on our summer of optimism and national pride,
and returns us to our globally-accepted state of charming
self-deprication with this foray into why, despite the youth of
Britain's new-found enthusiasm for sport, it's not being met with the
funding and support they need to tap into their potential talent.
What started with
Bradley Wiggins winning the Tour de France, exploded with the reams
of Olympic and Paralympic medallists, and ended with newly crowned
'Brit', Andy Murray, winning the US Open, has inspired a new
generation of future sporting heroes who could be wasted if we don't
step up in the same way that our pushier global neighbours do.
