An active member of the IRA in 1990’s
Belfast is forced to become an informant for MI5 in order to protect
her son.
Marred by the tragic death of her
younger brother, Colette must navigate through her distorted world of
violence and conflicting morality.
Director, James Marsh, and writer, Tom
Bradby, make a powerful pair, with the former responsible for the
Oscar winning documentary, Man on Wire, and Bradby having worked as a
news reporter in Northern Ireland in the 90’s before writing this
first of his six thrillers.
Stick with what seems a slow
start-director, Marsh, reels you in stealthily and doesn’t let your
heart rate drop until the very end.
You don’t need any prior knowledge or
understanding of Ireland’s ‘troubles’ to be affected by this
film, it stands alone as a formidable, all-out thriller.
