If you like your comedy slapstick then
try Will Ferrell and Zach Galifanakas’ political tet-a-tet, The
Campaign.
Two greasy CEOs, desperate to earn some
pulling power in their district, pit an unlikely rival candidate,
bumbling tourism manager, Marty Huggins (Galifanakas), against
reigning congressman, Cam Brady (Ferrell).
Director, Jay Roach, is something of a
comedy box office god, with Meet the Parents, its sequel, and three
Austin Powers films to his name, but The Campaign suggests he may be
losing his touch.
He’s relied on the powerhouse
performances of his comic leads, but without good writing and a
strong storyline, the pair fall short of even their ropiest work. If this is the first you’ve seen of
Ferrell and Galifanakis, you’ll be crying with laughter, but for
the rest of us it’s just more of the same.
