This Sunday sees the start of an epic eight-part series, fronted by political journalist and British history enthusiast, Andrew Marr, exploring the most dramatic, mind-blowing, brutal and courageous events that have shaped human history.

Marr takes us on an extraordinary journey from the origins of our earliest ancestors 70,000 years ago, to the ‘soap opera’ that was ancient Egyptian civilisation, through revolutions and bloodshed, right up to the dawn of the digital age we now live in.

Marr explains, “We've been brilliantly clever at reshaping the world around us – almost as clever as we think we are – though not perhaps as wise. There will be challenges, triumphs and surprises – all the essentials of the story, except, of course, how it ends…”
