Once you’ve exhausted all the family-friendly offerings at
the cinema (you’ve got The Lorax, Ice Age 4, Spiderman and the Katy Perry 3D
thing to get through) you can turn to the newly released DVD of this vibrant
retelling of the Grimm’s Brothers classic story, Snow White.
Mirror Mirror stars Julia Roberts as a snappy, cougar-type
evil queen, with Lily Collins putting in an appropriately wide-eyed performance
as Snow.
Director, Tarsem Singh, is known for his mind-bending
visuals and supernatural influences in The Cell, both of which he brings to
this vamped-up fairytale.
The Oscar winner-designed costumes, decadent ballroom scenes
and cheeky one-liners offer the whole family 106 minutes of pleasure.
