More than half a million young people
in the UK are being treated for mental illness and, for the first
time, The McGuiness Unit in Manchester has allowed unprecedented
access to one of the largest mental health units for teenagers in the
country.
Filmed over the course of a year,
intimate access the to the girls at boys staying at the McGuiness
unit, whether voluntarily or sectioned under the Mental Health Act,
shows the struggles faced by those with suicidal thoughts, eating
disorders and psychosis.
Don’t Call Me Crazy launches a season
of programs on the BBC, It’s A Mad World, exploring a range of
mental health issues.
