Given the very British weather situation over the Diamond
Jubilee weekend earlier in June, most of the country watched the pomp and
circumstance from the cosy comfort of their own sofas, but just incase you
missed anything, the good old BBC has released it on DVD for your re-viewing
pleasure.
What they have failed to include however, is the, arguably,
most entertaining portion of the weekend’s entertainment-the spectacular
outdoor concert featuring global mega-stars including Kylie and Elton John.
What you do get is a respectfully captured record of the
Thames Pageant, when anything and everything went down the river in the pouring
rain, and the Service of Thanksgiving, along with the Carriage Procession.
Buy it safe in the knowledge that the kitsch-factor twenty
years from now will make it worth your while.
